Welcome aboard! My educational background is in electronics and computers, and I write software for a living.

As to how true my statement is, all I can say is give Hitec a call and ask them yourself, that's what I did. I called their office in the United States.

They did say that at the time, they had no plans to stop manufacturing their robotic servos, but admitted that sales were the reason they didn't have full servo rebuild kits for the HSR-5498's. They have a part number for the rebuild kits on their website, but none of these were ever offered.

I'm biased, I love my RN-1. :) With their popularity waining, you can on occasion score a good deal on Ebay, but it's Ebay, and sometimes things aren't perfect.

It all depends on what you want. For me, the Roboard is the key element, the brains - the rest of the 'bot is a hardware platform for the Roboard. If you're going to compete in battles, servos are the key element. For any robot of this type, the cost is largely in the pile of servos you get, so keep that in mind.

I want to get a biped robot and as I was settling finally to the Robonova, I read somewhere that Hitec has discontinued the product.

Is that true?
