New to Robo-one

It's been a couple of days and i've been very pleased with my RN-1 Kit, i also set up my DX-6 spektrum system to him. It is a RC transmitter that operates on 2.6Ghz. There is no interferance so it's great. The only problem i have is that it is sort of difficult to operate. I will re-write parts of the program so that everything will run smoothly though.

I went over to Boss Robot Hobby in Berkley, CA today and picked up a RN-1 kit (didn't want to wait for it to come in the mail) I spent the entire afternoon putting it together and now it is done! =) everything seems to run fine when it turned on, except for the low battery light. somethings seem to be a little glitchy, but i am pretty sure it's just because the battery wasn't fully charged. Tommarow i will begin looking into the ROBOBasic language and work on programming the robot.

I work with SolidWorks all the time. When I get my RN-1 i would be happy to CAD some parts up if hivemind doesn't =P

Hello both of you and welcome to the forums! There are some posts on here about CAD drawings and so on, but I think basically Hivemind is just way too lazy to completely model a stock RN in his CAD software and post it on here

Try searching the forum for CAD and see what that brings up.

I don't mind at all if you tag along to this thread. I think it will be great for both of us to post all the problems that we run into over here. I'm just waiting for a check to get it to the mail so i can order mine. I can't wait. A friend of mine is planning to get a robonova too, so i'm giong to try to get a 3:3 robo one soccer team. But first thing is first...getting it =)

Unfortunatly i cant help you with your question but i also am getting Robonova 1 tommorow (brought it off ebay at good price just hope it works) well actually hope it turns up would be good start

I have fairly large Robosapien collection and am looking to take it up bit to next level as there fairly limited in what they can do although still alot of fun.

Well im sure ill be back with lots questions once receive it tommorow and hopefully unlike so many hi im new post ill still be here in few months ,well unless robot goes mad sets fire to the house 8O

New to Robo-one

Hello everyone,
After seeing the robo-ones at the first robogames (back when it was called robolympics) I was absolutely facinated by them. Now after looking in to the RN-1 for a bit, and seeing what Matt Bauer has done with his, it seems like that way is the best to go. In the near future (about a week or so) i'll place my order for the kit.
I have been doing combat robotics for a while now, so I am really into the mechanical end of robotics, I use to work with the Basic Stamp2 alot from parallax. So I have a little programming backround. I like in the SF bay area so I will most likely be competing at the 2007 robogames with my robot. One thing that i really want to do with my Rn1 is to add a couple more DOFs. grippers and a head would be nice, but i really would like a hip servo.
I was wondering if anyone had any pics on how this can be done, or maybe even some CAD drawings of what they have done. I've seen what Matt has done on rooks pawn, but it is still abit unclear.

i've been reading alot of posts and this place seems like a great place to check things out and get alot of help to get started.
