I should have a good robot for £600 not a retarded cog pusher.

Just got Takeshi to do an 8.2 second meter. Woooohooo!
Statistics: Posted by DirtyRoboto — Tue Nov 14, 2006 8:57 pm

Just a thought about the broken servo - if you've ordered a replacement from Hitec and are still waiting, why not just shell out for a 'spare' from a retailer online and have it in a couple of days? Compared to the cost of a full RN-1 a single servo isn't that much and, given other servos could fry in the future, wouldn't it be better to slip in the 'spare' whilst waiting for the replacement? Anyway, just a thought, 'cos I'd go mad waiting this long for a single servo!
Statistics: Posted by beermat — Sun Nov 12, 2006 8:52 pm

As you may have read in some of my other posts my RN1 has a broken right upper arm servo, so I am limited with the things I can do.
Many of my balance ideas are suspended for now although you have seen examples with the 'splits', 'three kicks' and 'one leg' routines of what I can do with a broken robot.

As I say, I have put balance aside for now and am looking at locomotion. This is why I have come up with some new gaits based on speed and stability.
I am focusing on how the RN1 platform can move in a given direction at the fastest speed, then change that direction to any given other.

Tonight I have had Takeshi cover 1 meter in 9.2 seconds using this method, then reverse and cover 1 meter in reverse in 11.8 seconds.
I am now developing diagonal moves so Takeshi can be directed in joystick fashion.

Marcus.
Statistics: Posted by DirtyRoboto — Sun Nov 12, 2006 5:53 pm
