Wow very nice work. It looks like it could be an early bipedal prototype for the B9 Lost in Space robot!

Isn't it frustrating how you agonize over building something, trying to account for every random problem, and no matter how hard we try there is always something that we didn't anticipate! Wouldn't it be great to get it exactly right the first time we build? The part that I hate the most is, after all of that painstaking work, you have to take it apart to alleviate the problem. SOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!
Statistics: Posted by NullARC — Mon Dec 11, 2006 5:35 pm

I have only run into a couple real issues. The torque probably being the grestest. Since I am keeping the robot at 6V the torque is 7.4 kg/cm -or at least so it should be. But it seems as if I am not even getting that with the extra load on there. My other issue is that Modi is slightly back heavy, and those combined problems make it hard for him to get up from his back sometimes. I am still finalizing his chest, perhaps I will move the battery forward to equalize the weight. Luckily he doesnt seem too top heavy.

I suppose I will make another complaint Has anybody else run into compliance issues? These HiTec servos dont seem to care if they are a few degrees off in either direction when under load... making some things very difficult. Perhaps these flaws are just coming out more now that I have more servos?

Anyway, I will try to put a video together soon to show off some cool new moves
Statistics: Posted by hivemind — Sun Dec 10, 2006 5:18 pm

How well does it handle, just asking as it looks very top heavy. I'm in the process of building my new bot so want to know as I'm trying to make the CG as low as possible.

Still love it bren
Statistics: Posted by Robo1 — Sun Dec 10, 2006 4:46 pm

I love the work you have done. F**king 200 out of 10 mate.
I am suprised that you went for a deep fill placement of servos as opposed to the back to back option.
I love the head mounted controller in the dome, what a cool mod.

Are you going to compete with this bot in Robo-one? I would love to see what it can do.

Keep up the excellent work.

Marcus.

Can you make it say "DANGER WILL ROBINSON!"
Statistics: Posted by DirtyRoboto — Sat Dec 09, 2006 10:21 pm

Hello all,

I have been working on this project for quite a while now, and I have finally decided to release it to the public. My new robot, made from HiTec servos, is now complete and working. I chose his name to be Modi as it is the son of Thor (my old robot) and I have custom built his brackets out of aircraft aluminum.

I have also created a short preview video so you can more easily see how I designed the robot: Modi Preview

And also you can visit my website for further specifications.

I was having trouble deciding where to post this, whether it be here or the Homebuilt section, but I figure since I am still using HiTec servos and the MR C-3024 I would stay in this section.

I hope you all enjoy. I will try to get some video of him in motion soon. It is much more difficult starting from scratch to get all the gaits working. Comments and questions are encouraged

Thanks,
Hive
Statistics: Posted by hivemind — Sat Dec 09, 2006 3:33 pm
