Thanks for your replies, Limor and Ric. I tried swapping hip servos 5 and 7 at pin locations 4 and 22 on the controller board. This works great as the feet move to the proper stance without pressing against each other.

During assembly, I carefully followed the manual in regard to hip servo installation and hookup on pages 10, 31 and 42. However, the manual is in error according to this post at the Lynxmotion Robonova-1 Forum.

http://www.lynxmotion.net/viewtopic.php ... e7bd59ca90

Has anyone had similar experiences?

After that experiment of swapping the hip servo connectors, I tried using the infrared controller and pushed the up arrow switch. To my surprise, RN walked forward for the first time! It was an incredible, fascinating and awe inspiring moment - one of those special moments in time!

Then I tried the down arrow switch and RN walked backwards! It had a slight wobble both times, however, was reliable in staying upright. Using the center switch, RN sits down and stands up flawlessly. The other simple movements work too. Probably not bad considering it has no calibration yet?

I can't do much more until I get a pc computer. Right?
Statistics: Posted by Humanoido — Thu Dec 14, 2006 5:13 am

Looks pretty good to me. I had to adjust the zero config slightly (hips) to get the specified 6mm between the feet.

Ric
Statistics: Posted by Ric — Wed Dec 13, 2006 7:16 pm

if you just switched it on and got such a nice initial position, you did a pretty good job of assembling the robot it most likely requires calibration.
Statistics: Posted by limor — Wed Dec 13, 2006 2:43 pm

When Robonova is first assembled, battery charged, and switched on, it takes on a basic stance (before connecting a pc computer). What does this look like?

If the feet are constantly pressing together by active servos, does this indicate the manual is incorrect and the hip servos need to be swapped in wire connector position at the controller board, or RN simply needs calibration?

The URL shows what's happening.

http://new.photos.yahoo.com/humanoid.la ... 2369697802

(For a larger photo, drag the image into the tray and select slide show.)
Statistics: Posted by Humanoido — Wed Dec 13, 2006 10:42 am
