8O Akihabara was incredible! I spent way too much money there... but ya can't help it. It's the true technological mecca of the world.

The Tsukumo Robot Kingdom shop on the third floor of Tsukumo's main building, about 2 minutes walk, is much better.

Amen! Tsukumo is like the opium den of humanoid robotics. I had to work up enough motivation to want to leave. ...and after I did, had to return a couple more times. I just couldn't get enough. Jen on the other hand was ready to go after a couple hours of perusing. God bless her for being able to put up with me

here's some pics...

Akihabara Station aka 'Electric City'

Matt & Jen in front of Tsukumo Robot Kingdom

We had the most amazing time in Japan. Just my opinion - it's okay, but the staff doesn't know much about robotics - they just fill orders. They also seem to focus just on the top selling products and parts and don't stock anything that won't sell in reasonable volume.

The Tsukumo Robot Kingdom shop on the third floor of Tsukumo's main building, about 2 minutes walk, is much better. The store manager, Arai-san, is on the ROBO-ONE organizing committee so all of his staff not only know their products, many of them compete in events here. There are several other robot shops in the same general area including RT (short for 'Robot Technology') and the new Kondo Robo Spot facility that has practice ROBO-ONE rings and a robot soccer field.
Statistics: Posted by tempusmaster — Wed Dec 20, 2006 8:42 am
