I think that will help with running an 18 servo motion file on a 19 servo robot that didnt have the order of the servos changed.. but the motion files for the 19dof robot have completly different servo assignments.. Coincidentally, I have the 19 DOF kit but it has been configured in the King Spider setup for past last year. Only last week did I start to build the Humanoid. To my dismay one of the AX Servos has stopped working so rather than rebuilding the 19 DOF (because the servos are in a different order in the 18 DOF model) I remapped the servos using the Robot Terminal.

It is quite simple to remap the servos. Firstly, connect the one servo that you would like to change the ID of to the CM5 (i.e. only one AX servo should be connected to the CM5). Then establist a connection between your PC and the CM5 using the Robot Terminal. Once you are connected simply type ID then the new servo number.

e.g. to change the connected AX servo to ID#2 type: "ID 2" (without the quotes that is).

And that is it - this will have changes your ID.

The just repeat for any of the servos that you need to remap.
Statistics: Posted by BillB — Fri Jun 08, 2007 5:13 pm

yeah thats why i want to build my own robot out of either dx 117 or rx 64 as these are seriously upto the job! i have someone making up the brackets from hiveminds drawings on a water jet machine ( they have been customised for my own needs with slightly different arrangementrs of servos).
like i said my only stumbling block is the control method as i know very little about programming , i idealy would like to play with it via a 3d catch and play software , whislt putting some hours in on learning the "lingo" so i can refine my motions.
any suggestions on how to progress would be mutch appreciated as i have the funds but am lacking in experience and technical knowledge.........
Statistics: Posted by robbybot — Tue Feb 13, 2007 7:17 pm

Hi

I had one of the original Bioloid kits which was supplied with 19 AX-12s. The humanoid design was 19 DOF but didn't come with any walking motions. I did put the 19 DOF together but this was back in the bad old days when there were some minor teething problems with servo firmware and CM-5 firmware so never got round to doing a walking gait for it. Not long after they came out with the 18 DOF humanoid and I went that way as it had a lot more motions supplied with it.

One thing I will say is the 19th dof was a bend at the waist one that took all the load of the upper body so continually whined.

Pev
Statistics: Posted by Pev — Tue Feb 13, 2007 11:29 am

i like the idea of the 19 dof, have you tried this out in reality? i was also looking at peter turners atempts to produc cycloid type robot and a interested in any experiences people have had with these designs and the interaction with the bioloid bunddled software.
i am trying to make a 23 dof robot out of aluminium but have no experience of software programming so need to cobble together a relatively easy to understand interface. i will be using a cm2+ controller and possibly rx 64 dynamixel servos so i naturally thought the best bet for out of the box control would be bioloid software . i just assumed that with the release of the new expert kit pending and the large amount of servos included they may have updated their 3d engine to accomodate humanoid designs with more dof - thats what im praying for!
Statistics: Posted by robbybot — Tue Feb 13, 2007 8:55 am

If you are talking about using it with the 18 DOF humanoid design then I think you'll have issues. Mostly because the AX-12s have all been moved around so, if memory serves, the waist AX-12 is now a shoulder AX-12.
One option would be to re number the IDs on your AX-12s, or of course if you have 19 AX-12s I think I still have the original pdf with the 19 DOF design in it somewhere

Pev
Statistics: Posted by Pev — Mon Feb 12, 2007 11:44 pm
