Charging question - related to using a third party charger

I would connect my charger (using clips) directly to the battery terminals, where the lead is soldered to it (it is easy to remove the plastic from the battery, and make the solder joint a bit larger, so that the clips can hold on to the joint)

I do not want to plug/unplug all the time, but I would prefer to use my computer controlled charger / discharger to ensure best battery life.

(Fast charging all the time is not very beneficial to the battery. Also, a total discharge can help to keep its capacity and can also increase lifetime.)

how would you connect the 3rd party charger to the batteries without disconnecting them from the CM5 ?

Could you please tell me: if I were to use a third party charger, do I have to disconnect the batteries or is the on / off switch disconnecting the batteries from the CM5?
