How to use the CM-900?

Hello, I am trying to use the CM-900 (REV 1.01) on my Mac running Mac OS/X 10.8.5.

Here are the steps I have taken:

1. I installed OpenCM v1.0.1 Fixed on my computer. I connected it to the usb port. The red light was turned on even I didn't use the DC SMPS. I just used the power from the usb port.
2. I connected a MX-28 to the board.
3. Following the given instructions, I selected /dev/tty.usbmodern1421 under Tools->Serial Port
4. Under Tools->Board, I chose Robotis CM900 Rev 1
5. Next, I chose File->Examples->Dynamixel->j_DXL_ReadWrite
6. I pressed the Compilation button, "Done compiling" was displayed on the status part of the program.
7. I pressed the Download button. The green light on the board was on. Later, a "Done downloading" message showed up on screen.
8. Nothing happened. What should I do next?

Note:
1. Do i need to plug in an AC adapter to the DC SMPS port on the board?
2. Do I need to connect the MX-28 to another power source?
3. As far as I know, different dynamixels have different control tables. The j_Dxl_ReadWrite sample seems to be a generic one. Do I need to specify somewhere the type of motor (e.g. MX-28, MX-106, etc.) that I am using? If so, please let me know how.
4. I pressed the serial monitor button. "No line ending" and "9600 baud" were selected by default.

Thank you.
Statistics: Posted by petercohen — Sat Mar 29, 2014 3:27 am
