I may be willing to part with a pair of them - send me a PM... I also have a CAD model of the gripper if you want.

- Jon
Statistics: Posted by JonHylands — Thu Oct 04, 2007 11:46 am

Jon,

Well, if you are interested in seeing a pair of them go off to a new good home let me know and we shall work out something.

I am going to contact Firgelli today and see about acquiring a couple of their PG linear actuators. Really nifty looking devices.

I have downloaded most of the pictures I could find of your gripper that uses the PG-12 device so I can do some brainstorming.

Carl
Statistics: Posted by quickster47 — Thu Oct 04, 2007 10:36 am

Carl,

The linear part of the gripper works great. The real issue was with the rotating wrist, and all the exposed wiring.

I have a few of the blanks sitting on my desk here...

- Jon
Statistics: Posted by JonHylands — Thu Oct 04, 2007 1:06 am

Jon,

The linear actuator gripper really looks appealing. Did they work out well and meet your initial expectations?

Did you use all the pieces that John at Xardas made for you? Or perhaps you have a drawing that I could obtain a copy of so I could machine a pair from some Delrin. Looking for some alternatives instead of completely reinventing the wheel, one more time.

Carl
Statistics: Posted by quickster47 — Wed Oct 03, 2007 11:58 pm

Jon,

Yes, there are exceptionally nice looking grippers but as you say, much more than would be needed for some Robo-One type work.

I must say I am slightly amazed that ther has not been any more focus or attention on a set of aftermarket grippers for a Bioloid Humanoid. It would sure seem like a perfect project. Hmm, guess that will just give me something else to experiment with on mine and perhaps come up with something marketable.

Thanks much for your reply and if you do come across something, please let me know.

Carl
Statistics: Posted by quickster47 — Wed Oct 03, 2007 11:26 pm

I have a couple different grippers I've experimented with...

http://www.huv.com/blog/2007/08/catching-up-again.html

An earlier gripper I did:

http://www.huv.com/blog/2007/05/gripper-moving.html

In general, these grippers are more sophisticated (and thus generally larger) than what you would normally find on a Robo-One style robot. The each have two degrees of freedom and built-in pressure sensor(s). They are intended for doing manipulation research.

- Jon
Statistics: Posted by JonHylands — Wed Oct 03, 2007 9:26 pm

Has anyone experimented with making grippers for the Bioloid humanoid kit? Seem like a worthwhile addition.

Carl
Statistics: Posted by quickster47 — Wed Oct 03, 2007 6:19 pm
