Nice work!!

In one of your posts you mention using the Hv7131GP from MagnaChip. I thought it would be interesting to see if that chip could be connected to the gumstix verdex. I'm not much of a hardware person (I can solder and build basic circuits) But I'm quite good at software. If anyone is looking to develop something along those lines I'm in.

How about some schematics or wiring diagrams and BOMs?

I am interested in how you integrated the AX-S1 functionality with the camera.

What components did you use?

Thanks buddy, The camera is powered from the CM5 i.e.12V at the moment I just using a conventional mini size wireless CCD camera - just want to see the robot viewing angle and get a feel for being like sitting inside the robot..^-^, but I am planning to use a camera has the build in image signal processing, something like Hv7131GP form MagnaChip or the Hamid`s ready made camera - just to save some development time.

By the way do you have a photo of the Hamid`s Bioloid Vision Module that without the AX case? just want to know the actual size and see if it can fit inside my robot head.

Thanks Jon, Yeah I’ve seen your BrainBot… cool stuff, especially with the gyro modules fitted together. The only reason that allows me to hide the pan servo in the chest is to have different type of battery (Li-Lo) remotely fitted on both feet, and left some room for the servo and batteries monitor board etc.
But the downside of this mods is the batteries goes like a rocket!

Damn, that is amazingly nicely done. I've done the same thing with BrainBot (hiding the pan servo in the chest), but of course I built a custom chest to do it, partly because I didn't think it would fit in the regular chest.

Hi Guys,

It took me quite a while to finish this project, I've added 2 more DOF for the pan/tilt robot head, which has got all the ability of the AX-S1. At the moment I fitted with a wireless CCD camera (just for fun) but I am planning to use the HV7131GP for the Vision function once I get all the motion files sorted.

The viewing angle isn’t too bad, it just manage to see its feet. With the HV7131GP will be better..

The main modification on the body is to drill a 22mm hole near the middle of the body, this allow an AX-12 to mount inside the body rather then outside, because this definitely looks better.

The robot head is made out of some plastic sheets and that’s involved some designing… cutting…drilling… spraying…. etc… it took me most of the time.. too much hard work!... I won't make another one by hand anymore!...:p
