The Robotis servos (including the RX-64) do not work like normal servos, and you cannot control them with a normal servo controller board like that one.

You need an RS-485 serial connection running at 1.0 Mbps to talk to one or more RX-64s (they are all connected on a serial bus).

You also need to provide roughly 18 volts to power these servos.

I would strongly suggest you download and read the RX-64 manual, which has a lot of information regarding interfacing.

The USB2Dynamixel sold in this store:
http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... cts_id/222

handles talking to both the AX-series and RX-series devices. I believe you need to provide power to the bus separately, but the USB2Dynamixel handles the actual bus interface from your computer's USB port.

- Jon
Statistics: Posted by JonHylands — Tue Dec 11, 2007 9:16 pm

Hi guys,

I'm new here as well as in the world of robotics. Anyhow, I was thinking of using the SD21 (http://www.robot-electronics.co.uk/htm/sd21tech.htm) to control my 21 Dynamixel motors. However the connections have become a problem for me. And therefore I was wondering if there are any cable convertors that convert the RS485 connection to the one used by the SD21 board?

Thanks for any answers in advance.
Statistics: Posted by [Chris] — Tue Dec 11, 2007 8:25 pm
