Peter, I had he same experience flu and 60 hr weeks at work before Christmas. One cable plugged in reverse the other just needed resetting so it wasn't so squashed, I think. I have the huminoid working now, the next step is to remove off one AX-12 and buy Jons USB Bus Interface Board to enable me to start programing the AX-12.
Statistics: Posted by Rob — Sat Jan 05, 2008 11:31 pm

I had a problem with no dynamixels found which I isolated to one servo in the foot. It turned out that I had managed to put one plug in reversed and that as you would expect kills the bus. My only defence was I had a cold (man flu) and was running a temperature. Once reconnected all worked correctly. I had assumed that they would only go in one way but it appears you can force them in the wrong way round. Under those circumstances the dinamixel pins make contact with the socket pins through the slots in the sides of the socket housing. Fortunatly the designers ensured that the power and ground are not the outside pins so you don't blow up the dynamixels.
Statistics: Posted by PeterW — Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:48 pm

This is not a problem that has been reported regularly although all Bioloid owners are aware of the care that should be taken to avoid cables getting pulled or squashed between servos.

There are some spare servo cables in stock just in case.
Statistics: Posted by limor — Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:26 pm

Yes bad connection. I have noticed that connectors that rub on the robots parts tend to loose their protective\insulative sleeve which is a bit of a worry. Do you go through a lot of connectors because of this?
Statistics: Posted by Rob — Fri Jan 04, 2008 3:23 pm

What I've noticed is to get the 000(0X00) Dynamixels Found you only have to have a problem with one Dynamixel connection. In the end I connected and then disconnected various cables until I localised where the problem was.
Statistics: Posted by Rob — Fri Dec 21, 2007 1:33 pm

Thanks Limor. I built the attacking duck first but I guess I should have (as you said built a car) before the humanoid. Will do as you say thanks again.
Statistics: Posted by Rob — Mon Dec 17, 2007 2:13 pm

"000(0X00) Dynamixels Found." means there are no servos connected to the CM5. try connecting one at a time.

check out the robot-terminal application and how to use it to test servo resonses (see manual).

It is in general not such a good idea to build the humanoid as a first project with Bioloid. The learning curve is a bit more smooth when starting off with a more simple robot structure like the car.
Statistics: Posted by limor — Sun Dec 16, 2007 10:00 pm

Hi,

I'm hoping this will be really easy to solve. I just finished building the humanoid downloaded and played the CheckAssembly BPG and got the following error. I checked page 71 of the manual. I haven't changed any of the IDs on the Dynamixels. What is this error really telling me?

[CM-5 Version 1.15]
<->PC:57142 BPS, <->Dynamixel:1000000 BPS
ID:
000(0X00) Dynamixels Found.
ERROR:1800[0008:02]001 002 003 001

Hopefully this is just a common trap for young players!
Statistics: Posted by Rob — Sun Dec 16, 2007 9:45 pm
