This is the reply from robotics, I will try it tonight and let you know how it goes.

Dear Rob,

Your AX-12+’s baud rate and ID may have changed during the process of your RESET. Please connect the dynamixels one at a time and use the SEARCH command to set the correct ID in accordance to the stickers attached to the dynamixels.

One thing you muct be careful is if you connect more than one dynamixel when assigning the ID, it will change the ID of all the attached dynamixels as well. Thus, it is best to do this one at a time.

Try reloading the CM5 software. It is 'almost' impossible to trash the CM5 Boot Loader so read and follow User Guide 116/117.

The File you want to transmit to the CM5 is in c:\BioloidKit\Examples\ROMfile\Bioloid_Ver115.hex
(Substitute your Bioloid directory name for my BiolodKit name. You may have a version later than 115).

I get the following responses:
Scan: 0 dynamixels found
Dump: No Data(Check ID, Operating Mode, Baud Rate)
ID #: No Data[at Broadcast ID 0xFE] LEN:000(0x00)

I have tried many cables and different sockets on my CM5. I have tried to install the AX-12 firmware however if the CM5 doesn't even recognise the AX-12 then I doubt the firmware will be installed correctlly.

Does anyone else have any ideas? The reson I got into this mess is I tried to Reset some dynamixels.

Do you check your AX12 individually, only one AX-12 connected to the CM-5?

What do a DUMP command display?

May be is a cable problem... try check it with different combinations of cables and AX-12 ...

I think it's very difficult, may be almost impossible, to break an AX-12, specially by software. I have made a lot of mistakes and they still are "alive"

Setting AX-12 IDs

For each AX12 that you need to assign an ID you should:

- connect to the CM-5 ONLY the one that you are going to set the id
- execute the robot terminal and connect to your serial port
- power on the CM-5, select and start the manage mode
- in the robot terminal, write "ID 1" to set the id 1 to the AX12 with this id.

You can read it in your "Bioloid user's guide" (page 109 in the manual ver 1.00)

Some of my AX12s are giving me this error they have lost their IDs and therefore are not being picked up by a scan. How can I fix this?
