Here a first short progress report:

- I (also) decided to start with the humaniod from scratch
- you need a very close and concentrated work with the pictures in the mechanical section otherwise you intend to forget bolts/screws (but thats correctable anyway).
- The wiring is not too difficult. You can do the whole wiring without unscrewing anything. Exception: Leave the top part of the chest and the AXS1-Sensor away until the other wiring is done.
- I am concerned about a few places where the cables a very near to moving brackets.
- I didn't find any mistakes in the documentation by now
- From ten times running the humanoid testing programm (humanoidtest.bpg) I have about 6 results with no mistakes and about 4 results where one of the servos (not the same one) does not move or twists into a "funny" position. Im checking this.
- If I "speak" with every single servo via motion editor everything works fine

How about your progress?

(sorry for my germenglish)
Statistics: Posted by barbar — Mon May 15, 2006 8:49 pm

Mine arrived Friday evening - On initial inspection it seems excellent!! As Pev has already said the build quality appears to be excellent, with all the skeletal brackets completely devoid of any flash and the other components of an equally high visual finish. The manuals could do with 'some work' - although I have seen a lot worse. A single part reference throughout would be useful and would save a lot of initial flicking back through the manual as would the inclusion of the part reference on each piece as part of the moulding (obviously not the nuts, bolts, etc!! ).

We have 'jumped in at the deep end' and are building the humanoid straight off - probably not the advised route to go but heh what the hell!!!! So far the only negative comment is that the insertion of the nuts into the lugs on the servos can be VERY fiddly - but that aside it appears great.

We'll keep you posted with progress and any cock-ups that we make

Takedown
Statistics: Posted by Takedown — Mon May 15, 2006 1:48 pm

I think I will start with the walking droid robot shown here:
http://www.botmag.com/articles/robotis_ ... _kit.shtml

By the way, are the walking droid, the Dinosaur and Puppy robots documented anywhere ? I have found only documentation for the arm and the humanoid.

Can the spider shown in one of the videos be made with only one comprehensive kit or is it made with parts from several kits ?
Statistics: Posted by inaki — Fri May 12, 2006 10:59 pm

Mine has arrived today too - darn got to work tomorrow and over weekend grrrrrr.

Have had a good check through it all and it is very well presented and seems very well made. English manual seems pretty good too. Seems to be of a pretty high standard of manufacture and finish too.

Now the fun begins....................

Pev
Statistics: Posted by Pev — Thu May 11, 2006 8:22 pm
