Robotis said that a new English manual will be ready by end of May.

I've managed to translate Korean PDFs by converting them to HTML, putting the resulting pages on some internet accessible site and then finally using Altavista or or other online translators to convert to English.
Here's an example of how Altavista converted Asimo's 3 laws of robotics..

1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

..from Korean into English:

1. The robot causes the sun in the human being and it does not become, is being placed dangerously the human being which and it looks on it does not become.
2. The case robot which is not violated in 1st principle does to obey certainly in order of the human being.
3. The case robot which is not violated in 1st principle and 2nd principle must protect own oneself.

Statistics: Posted by limor — Sat May 20, 2006 7:47 pm

I've had a scan through the expansion manual too. It does look interesting especially with the bluetooth and IR remote.

I did read an article (can't remember where) from someone in Robotis where they said that their concept of a robot was more autonomous so they didn't include the remote in the kits but only as an extra. My brother has also purchased a Bioloid so when we both have some time I will try to get the two AX-S1 modules communicating, hopefully it may give us an insight into the IR remote codes as I would like to try to get a remote working even though the expansion kit isn't available over here yet.

I too would love to get the manuals in english.......I tried babelfish but it lost something in the translation lol

Pev
Statistics: Posted by Pev — Fri May 19, 2006 4:28 pm

On the Robotis site I have found another manual entitled: Bioloid Expansion Manual. It talks about several goodies for our robots: the IR remote controller, a wireless device based on a Zigbee board, a wireless camera,...and the Biloid SDK that allows such things like robot vision !

With regards to IR remote controller it seems to suggest that it is intended to connect two AX-S1 modules. To be honest I thought it was intended to use a remote controller to send commands to the robot but apparently I was wrong.

By the way, in the same section there is the AX-S1 manual but in korean. It has lots of technical information about this sensor.

Anyone speaking Korean out there ?
Statistics: Posted by inaki — Fri May 19, 2006 1:05 pm
