I wouldn't worry about this. The Bioloid Comprehensive is planned to continue being produced and sold for the foreseen future. The price level of the new kit will be higher. The price for the "upgrade kit" will be a bit higher than the difference between "new" and comprehensive. If I were robotis i would give the comprehensive a small facelift by changing the board and battery without changing the price in order not to have to keep manufacturing multiple boards and dealing with expensive and heavy NiMh batteries. but i'm not robotis.
On the other hand launching new products in this limited, conservative and difficult market is not something to be done without weighing all the options. This is not a dynamic market like mobile phones, media players and HDTV. Life cycles in the hobby/education robotics market is typically measured in years not months.

In fact I've seen the demo of the new bioloid software, new board, lipo battery, metal brackets and the 6DOF stabilizer back in Neuremberg Toy Fair in February. The software looks improved over the Behaviour Control. The stabilization system, based on combined gyro/accelerometer looks makes for a much more realistic walk and the metal brackets add strength to the humanoid structure in robo-one competition scenarios. The new board is similar to the old one, same ATmega128 but i guess has smaller form to support the lipo casing (guessing).

We will be ofcourse extremely happy to announce the availability of the new upgrade kit since we know Bioloid users will love the opportunity to upgrade their kits with new features.

We are supposed to receive one of these demo upgrade kits any day now.
Pictures and videos will undoubtedly show up within hours of opening the box.

Hi guys sorry for the new topic, but while I was browsing the ROBOTIS website I found some interesting posts:

1. Looks like we will be getting a balance sensor quite soon (lets hope!)

2. A new CM5 well 3 actually (a new processor for the 3rd and most expensive version), no idea what the other new features are gonna be but should be interesting to see anyway:
