stevo3d wrote:
a Keyspan USB to Serial converter (USA-19QW)

Thanks for the info stevo3d. If the new PCMCIA card fails I'll get me a Keyspan converter. I should have known that earlier ... the card costs about 3 times as much ...

Cheers!
barbar
Statistics: Posted by barbar — Sun Jun 18, 2006 10:00 am

barbar wrote:
instead of a problematical software emulated USB2SerialConverter RS232

I've been using a Keyspan USB to Serial converter (USA-19QW) on my laptop all along with my Bioloid with zero problems. Adapters using the Prolific PL2303 chipset (Acroname, IOGear, iConcepts, Prolific, Sakar, and others) have been problematical with other robots (especially Parallax) so I've stopped using them.
Statistics: Posted by stevo3d — Sat Jun 17, 2006 8:44 pm

.. decided to leave Win2K where it is and to buy this PCMCIA-Card for the notebook.

I believe it to be "real" RS232 (instead of a problematical software emulated USB2SerialConverter RS232).

Nevertheless my BCP 1.26 wont work under my Win2K ... that's not very nice.

barbar
Statistics: Posted by barbar — Sat Jun 17, 2006 2:35 pm

Inaki,

thank you for helping. I dont know whether its "allowed" but I copied APPHELP.DLL from XP-notebook to C:\WINNT and to C:\WINNT\system32 on the Win2K-tower (MSJAVA.DLL was already there). Went through all possibilities of installing and running BCP 1.26 ... no success ... same as mentioned above.

I'm thinking about throwing the tower out of ... o.k. maybe I'll "upgrade" to XP in the next days ... a huge work.

Thanks again
barbar
Statistics: Posted by barbar — Mon Jun 12, 2006 9:13 pm

Hmmm. It seems this programs requires APPHELP.DLL to work which is not included in Windows 2K. Also it requires MSJAVA.DLL which may or may not be installed in your system.

Probably this application has only been tested under XP.
Statistics: Posted by inaki — Mon Jun 12, 2006 7:29 pm

Strange ... the new 1.26 version of Behavior Control Programmer wont run on my old Win2K tower. On execution I only see the sand clock for a microsecond and that's all ... no application running. It runs on my notebook though (WinXP Pro), but because of probs with USB-serial-converter I prefer not to use it.

I've tried several things such as partial installation as described by robolucy, complete installation from scratch (robotis AND besttechnology version), checked and matched the registry with the notebook. No success.

BCP 1.25 and 1.24 (both old versions) as well as all Robot Terminal and all Motion Editor versions run without complaining, only BCP 1.26 refuses working ... in result I can't update my AX-12 firmware.

Anybody got an idea?

Thanks in advance
barbar
Statistics: Posted by barbar — Mon Jun 12, 2006 4:03 pm
