Yes, the HaViMo camera looks great and is nicely integrated with the robot. However, the point is that a stereo camera is needed to calculate distance information from the images. And I think that distance information is an important help for recognizing objects in the environment.

axel
Statistics: Posted by Axel — Thu Sep 03, 2009 8:20 pm

Hi axel,
I think "SVS" camera is pretty big for bioloid head. that is better for wheeled robots.
if you want a camera that process image by itself,HaViMo is best choice.
or want a camera that process image by your computer,robotis wireless camera set is useful.becaouse you can see live image from camera and send commands to robot by zigbee communication.

Regards;
Khashi.E[/url]
Statistics: Posted by Khashi.E — Thu Sep 03, 2009 8:57 am

I don't use it on the Bioloid, but I do have the stereo system on the Surveyor tracked platform. It is quite robust, very hackable, and works great with the open source firmware. It also works well with Roborealm. It would be an interesting addition to a humaniod robot like the Bioloid. It would likely look fairly large on the Bioloid, but it is relatively light, so for experimentation, it would probably be workable.
Statistics: Posted by wheagy — Thu Sep 03, 2009 12:29 am

Hi,

I just found the stereo camera that is offered by Surveyer (http://www.surveyor.com/stereo/stereo_info.html).
It seems to be quite self contained, so maybe only a power supply is needed to get it working, mounted on a Bioloid.
So, I wonder if anyone has tried to use it with a Bioloid ?

Axel
Statistics: Posted by Axel — Wed Sep 02, 2009 6:49 pm
