Hey all,<br /><br />Well, after building the humanoid as like the 4th robot from the comprehensive kit, i decided 'it is time', to customize it.<br />I will keep updating this post with new info and media, please feel free to post any likes/dislikes/ideas/constructive comments or whatever else you want to share, <span style="color: orange"><span style="font-style: italic">if you cant see/open the pictures (wich happens at times due to imageshack) you can also find them all (heck, more) in my <a href="http://forums.trossenrobotics.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=3&amp;userid=3599" class="postlink">trossen robotics gallery</a></span></span><br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-size: 117%; line-height: 116%;">ORIGINAL POST</span></span><br />So a while back i ordered 2 wireless cams, sanded a hole in the chest (didn't have a hole drill) and made a nice pan/tilt head.<br />Now im working on the arms, i just decided i should add another servo to the upper arm so it can actually move almost-alike a human arm.<br /><br />My goal is a humanoid that can manipulate objects (pick up can and pour from it, as far fetched example) using its stereo-vision to detect objects/distances<br /><br />However, the arms are turning out to be quite heavy, and fitting the 3rd chest servo made it no longer fit its battery, so i would like some advice on a different battery, i've read from quite a bunch of people that they use a diff battery, but never found any usefull info about replacement batt or how to attach it to the cm5/charge it.<br /><br />Some pics of it in current state, remember i will add another servo to the arms, and soon (once my ordered servos arive) ill be constructing the legs. Its currentlly 12 dof, will add 2 more dof to the arms, making the torso/head 14 dof, leaving me with 7 dof per leg (ordered 10 additional servos, 28 is the limit)<br /><br /><a href="http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/143/200910041329142.jpg" class="postlink"><img src="http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/143/200910041329142.th.jpg" alt="Image" /></a> <a href="http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/6506/200910041327139.jpg" class="postlink"><img src="http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/6506/200910041327139.th.jpg" alt="Image" /></a> <a href="http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/2356/200910041328140.jpg" class="postlink"><img src="http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/2356/200910041328140.th.jpg" alt="Image" /></a> <a href="http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3482/200910041329141.jpg" class="postlink"><img src="http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3482/200910041329141.th.jpg" alt="Image" /></a><br /><br />If any1 can share their experience with replacing battery that be great.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 150%; line-height: 116%;">UPDATE 1</span></span><br />After a little rethinking, made one of the arms with a additional servo, imo its totally badass, if the servos can take it ill definatlly keep this new arm (on the right on the pics below, its left arm):<br /><a href="http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/3669/200910041604144.jpg" class="postlink"><img src="http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/3669/200910041604144.th.jpg" alt="Image" /></a> <a href="http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/8697/200910041605145.jpg" class="postlink"><img src="http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/8697/200910041605145.th.jpg" alt="Image" /></a> <a href="http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/7942/200910041605146.jpg" class="postlink"><img src="http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/7942/200910041605146.th.jpg" alt="Image" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 150%; line-height: 116%;">UPDATE 2</span></span><br />Made the other arm like the new one, 14 dof and counting <img src="http://forum.robosavvy.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /> <br />Tested it with the standard battery and default motion software, it raises and rotates its arms great, but it will need more power, it dies in a few seconds when i dont have the power plugged in hehe.<br /><br />Quicky phone video on Youtube and picture below:<br /><a href="http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/8756/200910041833147.jpg" class="postlink"><img src="http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/8756/200910041833147.th.jpg" alt="Image" /></a> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnRn9QT3Uik" class="postlink"><img src="http://i4.ytimg.com/vi/SnRn9QT3Uik/default.jpg" alt="Image" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 150%; line-height: 116%;">UPDATE 3</span></span><br /><a href="http://blog.trossenrobotics.com/2009/10/05/arbotix-robocontroller-now-available-for-pre-order/" class="postlink">Trossen has started to 'pre-sell' the arbotix boards</a> <img src="http://forum.robosavvy.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><br />I've just ordered mine, will be using it for this humanoid, should be receiving it next week/the one after, servos should be due to delivery soon too, then i can really kick off the jams<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 150%; line-height: 116%;">UPDATE 4</span></span><br />Found me a nice battery, ordered 2 plus a charger<br /><br /><img src="http://www.rctoys.com/images/products/TP-2250-3SP30_1.jpg" alt="Image" /><br />Specifications for Thunder Power RC TP-2250-3SP30 LiPo:<br /><br /><ul> * Voltage: 11.1V<br /> * Cells: 3-Cell<br /> * Capacity: 2250mAh<br /> * Max Continuous Discharge: 30C<br /> * Max Burst Discharge: 60C<br /> * Max Continuous Current: 68A<br /> * Max Burst Current: 135A<br /> * Weight: 180g<br /> * Dimensions: 25 x 34 x 104mm</ul><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 150%; line-height: 116%;">UPDATE 5</span></span><br />Arbotix (starter kit) recieved! didnt recieve the above battery/charger yet, so i will prolly have to wait till the weekend or some before having all parts (so also power and servos) to continue building/start coding<p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="http://forum.robosavvy.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=1517">Suicidal.Banana</a> — Sun Oct 04, 2009 12:57 pm</p><hr />
