This should be less harsh on the servo axis. The coupling between the servos is surprisingly stiff. The screws rub and I need to decide how I want to deal with that. I think its interesting to finally see a 3rd party humanoid using the AX-12+s, but I have to agree with everyone here so far, I don't see the advantage to having an ankle design like that. Almost the entire robot's weight is sitting on that servo shaft. Oh man. I didn't see that drawing. Really makes it looks structurally scary. I wonder if the Kondo brackets for this type of layout work any differently so as to span to the other side. Though maybe a cantilever configuration ends out working ok.
