Limor

Do you have the means to program a Mega8 in circuit? If so I could easily knock up another PCB when I make mine and send you one. I have just received the smd 74HC126 (I think) so all you would need is a PDIP Mega 8 and a few bits and bobs that I may not have 2 of.

Mark
Statistics: Posted by pepperm — Thu Sep 07, 2006 4:46 pm

pepperm : still reading up on the differences between the Atmega128 and Atmega8 registers and playing with the example.c code. it's a bit tricky without the actual device. Give me another day or so.

jaho434: As for the AX12 vs. AX12+, it could also have been a cost cutting excercise by Robotis. No one here posted any problems with the AX12 shafts. The people to ask are the RoboCup heavy users who really abuse their Robotis servos.
Statistics: Posted by limor — Thu Sep 07, 2006 10:33 am

Yep, been following your progress closely.

I've pretty much decided now...... Going to go with the Bioloid over the KHR-1. I like the idea of the ability to create more than one robot model and I'm confident that an additional IO board will be able to be made.

Also, (correct me if I'm wrong) the AX-12+ servos are better than the ones that come with the vanilla KHR-1 kit.

Looking forward to getting the kit and getting up to speed with you guys!
Statistics: Posted by jaho434 — Wed Sep 06, 2006 9:53 pm

I went for the 18 servo version because it looks like Robotis beefed them up. I have no experience of the 19 servo version I am afraid though.

As regards extra I/O, I am working on an interface now. I have designed some hardware and will make it when I have a moment. I have had some promises of code for the unit too from Limor, so maybe there will be something soon.

Have a look at this thread....

http://robosavvy.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=294&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30

Mark
Statistics: Posted by pepperm — Wed Sep 06, 2006 8:16 pm

Hi all,

Sorry if this is becoming repetitive, but I didn't want to hijack anyone else's thread.

I'm looking at buying the Bioloid kit and was wondering if people could give their opinions on a few things.

Assuming that RoboSavvy still have both kits available, which should I buy? The old 19 servo kit or the new 18 servo kit? How much better are the new servos? I was kinda hoping to use the 19th servo on the "head" of the humanoid to enable it to swivel or possibly experiment with the 19 servo humanoid. Did the swivelling waist of the 19 DOF humanoid add any useful functionality?

Are more servos/sensor modules available for purchase? Are multiple sensor modules supported in the software?

The only thing that is holding me back from purchasing this kit is the current lack of ability to add further sensors for autonomous behaviour. I've seen the AccelBoards used by the Humboldt Robocup team, but are they available to purchase/use?

Cheers for your input
Statistics: Posted by jaho434 — Mon Sep 04, 2006 4:28 pm
