Thanks pepperm, that's good info to know.

I'm tempted to dig out my rusty soldering iron, bit as a programmer-geek rather than an electronics-geek, I'll think I go with robosavvy's advice!!

Cheers,
Chris
Statistics: Posted by CB74 — Wed Sep 06, 2006 2:59 pm

I am guessing that the parts should be under warranty, failing that, in the AX-12+ there is a small 47uF capacitor across the supply line just before the 78L05 regulator. You could replace these.

I would try thinking about why the capacitor blew though? Maybe the caps rating was too low, maybe there is a problem with the power supply or regulator circuit in the CM-5?

If the servo doesn't work then I suspect something like the voltage regulator (78L05) has gone too, the cap is just for smoothing so the servo would probably work without it. As it isn't I suspect the Vregulator too. It could be worse though........Probably isn't.

Re- spares, I would like to know about this because I would like some extras.

Mark
Statistics: Posted by pepperm — Wed Sep 06, 2006 11:04 am

OK, I've changed the fuse and one of the AX-12+'s is blown.

I never even got to see the thing walk!

Does anyone know if these can be user-repaired (i.e. replace the capacitor), or where to order a replacement? Hi there!

I've just had my first Bioloid for a few days, and have just assembled the humanoid (after a few beginner/intermediate robots to get the hang of it).

I was recharging it for only the third time or so, and after a few seconds I heard a constant clicking noise, then the fuse blew and recharging stopped (of couse). But then I smelt that horrid capacitor smell for one of the servos.

I haven't replaced the fuse yet, but my question is, do you think that servo could be permanently damage, or am I a paranoid android?

Cheers,
Chris.
Statistics: Posted by CB74 — Tue Sep 05, 2006 10:07 am
