That depends on...

What kind of paint you use, water or enamel based, etc.

What kind of solvent you need to remove the paint, alcohol, turpentine or maybe acetone.

How the plastic is affected by the particular solvent, clouds, melts or if your lucky no reaction.

If the paint is on the inside or the outside. It will be much harder to get paint out of those tight little corners on the inside.

Good news is that Robotis will be happy to sell you another shell if you are not satisfied with the results!
Statistics: Posted by Fritzoid — Fri Jan 22, 2010 11:40 am

just a question on painting.

I also plan to paint mine. If I mess up is there anyway to remove the paint without destroying the shell ?

Thanks
Statistics: Posted by UncleBob — Fri Jan 22, 2010 7:01 am

The new issue of Robot magazine has arrived and guess which humanoid robot graces its cover?

Naturally there's a nice feature article about the new Bioloid Premium kit to go along with the cover shot. If you're already familiar with the Premium kit there's not too much new here. For the wider robotics audience it provides a favorable overview of the product, which will likely mean more users.

Some details that I noticed:

Robotis has plans to produce a metallic shell (head and chest) for combat robotics. They already have metal feet that they gave away with the reviewers packages.

The reviewer's software appears to be at the 1.0.15.0 level, showing a screen shot of the new Pose Utility.

Robotis is working on a C/C++ interface much like what comes with the Expert kit. There's also talk about a programming interface for the Dynamixel bus.

Finally, if you wanted to know what the head and chest would look like if you painted them on the inside, take a close look at the cover shot. It's looks about like I thought it would, which is why I painted mine on the outside. That's just my preference.
Statistics: Posted by Fritzoid — Thu Jan 21, 2010 12:46 pm
