You can also run the wire down instead of up like the instructions show for the hip servos. It's better out of the way of the arms like this.
Statistics: Posted by billyzelsnack — Tue Feb 02, 2010 9:42 am

in reply to UncleBob, in their instructions manual includes pictures of the cables in REAL size.

If you take a cable and put it over the picture of the cables, you can easilly see which image fits the cable/size you have and quicklly find out what cable it is.
Statistics: Posted by PedroR — Mon Feb 01, 2010 4:48 pm

I think robotis should labels the different wire for use with the servos. I had to guess my wires during construction.
Statistics: Posted by UncleBob — Mon Feb 01, 2010 3:54 pm

It's a comprehensive kit. All three of my comprehensive kits have different cables. It seems like the cables keep getting worse as time goes on.

Kit 1 : Very good white connectors and very good wires. White sockets on servos.
Kit 2 : Way too tight fitting black connectors and very good wires. Black sockets on servos.
Kit 3 : A little too tight fitting white connectors. Flat ribbon wires. Black sockets on servos.

I think the connectors got discontinued at some point and that's why the change. The wire was probably changed due to cost since the original was so high quality.
Statistics: Posted by billyzelsnack — Mon Feb 01, 2010 3:13 pm

Is it a premium kit?

The reason im asking; it looks like your cables are flattened, and melted together?? i have a comprehensive kit, and later got me a frame/cable kit, and neither of the cables look like that, the original ones from the kit were 3 seperate quite sturdy cables, from the frame-kit i got them as 3 seperate very soft cables.

Just wondering, its not that big of a deal
Statistics: Posted by Suicidal.Banana — Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:57 pm

In my experience the knee wiring is very easily damaged if wired how the instructions tell you to wire it. A very simple change makes damage much less likely..

Just swap the wires. Bottom goes to top and top goes to bottom. If you give it a try you'll immediately notice why this counter-intuitive placement is so much nicer. You can also go the next step and tuck it into the clip as in the picture, but it's not required. I usually don't do it since it is so tricky to do.
Statistics: Posted by billyzelsnack — Sun Jan 31, 2010 3:14 am
