My mistake, the Dynamixel Wizard can see the HUV devices but can't report the current values of any of the fields. This makes it look like it doesn't work. However, you do seem to be able to change the first few fields with it, the ID for example.

It's the RoboPlus Manager that doesn't work. Any attempt to read from the Boiloid I/O board fails and disconnects your sesssion (without reflecting such in any way). The HUV foot pressure boards have a similar problem when you try to read beyond a certain range.

The only RoboPlus crashes I've seen, and I've seen alot of them, seem to be related to the use of the serial port by multiple applications. For example downloading a task file after using terminal mode.
Statistics: Posted by Fritzoid — Sat Apr 17, 2010 1:36 pm

Ouch.

Just wondering.. Does the Dynamixel Wizard just crash on you when accessing non-Robotis devices? That's what happens with any of my custom devices or when using Jon's devices.
Statistics: Posted by billyzelsnack — Fri Apr 16, 2010 11:36 pm

So, I wanted to change the ID on the HUV I/O board I have and the dynamixel wizard can't deal with it. I when into terminal mode and hit enter. This gets you into manage mode. Then I changed to the board's CID (123) and issued the ID command to set the new ID (109). Well that was the last time anything worked on my Boiloid. Seems the f*#$k**g firmware sends a damned "broadcast" request and changes every device to ID 109, argh almighty. Three god@#!&ed hours with the screw driver and UBB2dynamixel!!!

While we're at it, stay away from the DEMO command too. I learned all about changing a blown fuse after I ran that one. And beyond the single spare fuse that Robotis ships with the premium kit these things are hard to come by, at least in the US.

The TEST command does the same thing so don't try it either.

Just a word to the wise.
Statistics: Posted by Fritzoid — Fri Apr 16, 2010 7:12 pm
