Mattman, did you get it to work?

I'm facing the same problems now (only walk in circles; when using demo mode, it often falls down; remote mode works fine)
Statistics: Posted by Rowwan — Fri Jun 18, 2010 6:35 am

you can check every cm510 feature and each sensor port too with roboplus manager.

you can verifiy the code you use get values from the port you have connected your sensors.
in original Korean and english type A code, the check for IR sensor is at line 301.
Port5 is the one you have to connect the IR DMS sensor.
the code checks if value of port5 exceeds 200 to make the robot turn left.
as you know, the neutral value for gyro x or y axis is about 250 and if you have nothing connected, values are about 570 in my cm510 (except the one close to the DMS sensor (port6) which as aproximatly the same value of port5) .

So if your robot is always turning left, maybe you have connected one of the gyro axis to port5 or maybe you have nothing connected too.

to check if your gyro is well connected (port3 and 4 (line 879/880 in korean code and 879/880 in english code), you can shake the robot when it executes balance page motion).
then run the autonmous mode and make it fall front or back.
if the robot does'nt stand up alone, then X and Y axis are inverted and you have to swich the connection to cm510 or ports in the code.

Hope it will help.

Cheers
FabinovX
Statistics: Posted by FabinovX — Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:37 pm

I had exactly the same problems. In autonomous mode it behaved as if the distance sensor was active all the time. I do not think it has anything to do with servo calibration since it's a perfect turning gait. My conclusion was that it did not recognize the sensor. In remote control mode it walked ok but I did not see much evidence of it using the gyro, but I was not really sure what to expect in this case. I also had the problem that it never clapped when I clapped, although clapping seemed to start the demo program so perhaps these two issues are related.

What I did was to turn the sensors on in RoboPlus Manager (it took me forever to figure out that you could click in the list of ports to run them on). This confirmed that all sensors were working fine and were correctly connected. When I later tried the autonomous mode again it was very different. I cant say that it was working, but the movement was very different from before. My guess is that it is necessary to turn the sensors on in RoboPlus, but unfortunately it is still not working as I would expect. Perhaps I am still missing something or maybe there is something wrong with the installed demo program since everything works fine with my own programs.
Statistics: Posted by cba — Mon Apr 26, 2010 7:57 pm

the sound sensor is in the cm510.
you have to clap between the different demo motion or at the beginning of the demo mode.
Statistics: Posted by FabinovX — Sat Apr 24, 2010 9:00 pm

Thanks for the replies. I'll check the ports and play with some of the stuff that was mentioned. I was also wondering about another thing. It says in the manual that when the bioloid is set to demo mode it will clap when you clap? It doesnt clap it goes straight into showing demo stuff. Where would the sound sensor be?
Statistics: Posted by mattman — Sat Apr 24, 2010 4:42 pm

You may have to calibrate your robot before it walks straight.
i had this problem too.
even if the robot is well assembled, there are some difference between left and right legs due to the precision of parts fabrication and assembly.
i tried to limit the assembly dispersions to its minimum when assembling, but the robot was always turning left when walking.

to calibrate you can take a look at this thread :
http://robosavvy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5977
Statistics: Posted by FabinovX — Sat Apr 24, 2010 1:23 pm

If you observe the CM-510 carefully you can see several vertical lines above and under the left and right ports, and under the two frotal ports:

For the ports on the left side:
I under the port 1,
II above the port 2,

For the front-left port
III under the port 3

...

You can see the sensor values using Robo Plus Manager

Hope it helps!
Statistics: Posted by siempre.aprendiendo — Sat Apr 24, 2010 11:22 am

I think you plug the sensor to the wrong port. Try the other ones. [/list]
Statistics: Posted by UncleBob — Sat Apr 24, 2010 9:55 am

I just bought a Bioloid premium. Now I assembled the whole thing but I now have a few problems...

Everything seems to be working but when I set it to autonomous mode it just turns in circles... No matter if there is something in front of it or not. I'm wondering if the sensor is working or not. Is there a way to check if the sensors work properly? Is it supposed to beep if the sensors dont work properly?

Does anyone have a link to any manuals for the bioloid premium? The manual that comes with it is so so.

Thanks for any help!
Statistics: Posted by mattman — Sat Apr 24, 2010 7:33 am
