Bolt on Replacement for Standard GYRO 6DOF

Its pretty sad that Robotis doesn't bother to make their new software compatible with 3rd party bus devices - I thought that was the whole point to having a nice bus like that.

As an aside, I'm about to start working on a slightly new version of the 6-axis IMU that should provide stabilized pitch and roll values (with no drift). I finally found some filtering software that will run on the ATmega168, so once I incorporate that, and make a few changes to the sensor board layout, it should be much better for helping with balance.

Supposed to be working implies that they have not actually tested the configuration themselves. My experience with other HUV boards and the CM-510 suggest that a firmware upgrade will be necessary. Once that's accomplished it should be an excellent solution.

And the ADC ports are too noisy to be useful, which is why we need an IMU.

Robotis included the AX-S20 in the Premium kits that went out to reviewers in the summer of 2009. It was a last minute decision to replace those units with the gyro sensor we all got. Supposedly because the compass unit was too noisy. Seems like a bad decision in retrospect.

i asked the guys at the robotshop here in canada and it is supposed to be working fine with the cm-510.. i thinks it is pretty cool as it just swaps out with the old one.

Actually, AX-S20 is not available for selling and you won't get one except if you're lucky as Uncle Bob was

i think the 6 IMU from Jon Hylands is full compatible with cm510 because it works as any dynamixel actuator connected to the bus.
it has a 100Hz update rate and can be accessed the same way.

Ah, but where can I purchase an AX-S20?

It'll work just fine with a CM-510.

I wouldn't make that assumption.

That's Jon Hylands IMU. It's been around for awhile. I have two of them! Here's something I made with it awhile back..

has anyone checked out this new toy for bioloid.. plugs into the servo bus and has 3axis gyro and 3axis accelerometer.
i got mine comeing.
