Some robots, Manoi etc., have vacuum-molded shells that can be attached to the arms and legs.  The shell can then be painted to achieve any look you like.  While nothing like this is available for the Bioloid, home vacuum molding is relatively cheap.  I was looking at some products just last week with this in mind.
