The motor is a Maxxon RE-max. I didn't measure it but it appears the same as one in the RX-28.<p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="http://forum.robosavvy.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=173">Bullit</a> — Sat Feb 26, 2011 1:29 pm</p><hr />

Thx. Bullit for posting the photos.<br /><br />Is the motor the same as the RX28 ? The largest part of the RX28 cost appeared to be in the Maxon motor.<br /><br />With the STM32 processor supporting 4.5M speed, then I guess we will see something more of the Dynamixel 2 protocol and maybe some more interesting PID parameters, though the documents here<br /><a href="http://darwin-op.springnote.com/pages/7239533" class="postlink">http://darwin-op.springnote.com/pages/7239533</a><br />do not show any support for 4.5M or any other differences.<br /><br />The encoder adds about $5 to component cost and the STM32 about $4. There is now also a 3.3V regulator, but they also went from the previous H bridge driver to MOS transistors. So component cost added is less than 10$, and build cost and increased reliability should also bring down cost. Do you have an ballpark price yet?<p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="http://forum.robosavvy.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=159">i-Bot</a> — Sat Feb 26, 2011 11:10 am</p><hr />

I thought I'd share a few photos of the internals of the new Robotis RX-28M dynamixel. <br />These new servos are very impressive with their magnetic encoder they have very little backlash and no servo whine that I've heard thus far. <br />It appears that the case and gears are identical to the RX-28 however the electronics are entirely different. <br />On the final output gear shaft is the diametral NIB magnet.<br /><br /> <img src="http://robosavvy.com/Builders/Bullit/IMG_0290.JPG" alt="Image" /><br /><br /><img src="http://robosavvy.com/Builders/Bullit/IMG_0291.JPG" alt="Image" /><br /><br /><img src="http://robosavvy.com/Builders/Bullit/IMG_0292.JPG" alt="Image" /><br /><br /><img src="http://robosavvy.com/Builders/Bullit/IMG_0293.JPG" alt="Image" /><br /><br /><img src="http://robosavvy.com/Builders/Bullit/IMG_0294.JPG" alt="Image" /><br /><br /><img src="http://robosavvy.com/Builders/Bullit/IMG_0295.JPG" alt="Image" /><br /><br />ibot I knew you'd like this <img src="http://forum.robosavvy.com/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="http://forum.robosavvy.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=173">Bullit</a> — Sat Feb 26, 2011 4:52 am</p><hr />
