I also bought the original upgrade kit, and I don't regret it either, having lots of spare frames, nuts and bolts and cables is great for experimenting without pulling a working robot apart.

For me at least the next big (read expensive) step is to move to AX18 sevos at least for lower body on a humanoid! So a pack of AX18s with some discount, like the 6 pack of AX12s would be a plus!

I do wonder when Robotis might be able to move all servos to magnetic position sensing rather than pots! Pots inevitably wear and servo performance degrades.
One request I have is can we have replacement pots as a spare like we have replacement gears?

On the magnet sensing point I'd hate to spend out lots on AX18 servos to find a MX18 comes out shortly after!

I bought the Robotis upgrade kit and I regret not having bought a second one, for the mechanical parts and the electronics parts.

As the Robotis upgrade isn't available the upgrade of the CM-5 to the CM-510 and the battery is a must:

- CM-510 have more memory and more suport to be programed in C

- You can add up to 6 sensors + gyro, and put it anywhere on your robot they are not phisically integraed as AX-S1.

- The battery is better, lighter and separated from the controller, so you have more options to the weight distribution

- The integration of the controller with the other parts it's more flexible than the previous one

Sure I forget some other advantages, I can't think on any drawback

[Added] I think it would be far more difficult or perhaps impossible to build AntOne (left image) without the upgrade.

Hi

To follow up on Limor's post, Roboplus also includes some 3D designs of the GP frames (because it has the 3D simulator).

They can also be used as a starting point for building / machining your own.

I don't believe Robotis will be selling the GP frames stand alone (actually they haven't released any accessories for the GP for sale separately)

As a side note, we may also be able to prepare some AX-18 Upgrade Kit for Bioloid PREMIUM if there is customer interest in this.

So far I'm personally a bit disappointed as we haven't had as many customers interested in upgrading their Comprehensive Kits as I expected.

We really believe these packs (especially the Value pack) brings a lot of Value to who owns a Comprehensive as it adds the new Sensors, the remote and the new skin for a fraction of the cost of a PREMIUM Kit.

Having said this, we'd love to hear your feedback and how you feel about upgrading your Comprehensive kits: which options appeal to you, where would you like to go with the kit in terms of accessories (if upgrading to PREMIUM doesn't suit your needs), and so on...

I look forward for your reactions!

it is not clear what Robotis intends to do with GP as it is currently priced a bit high for the average hobbyist. You can make your own metal brackets by adapting the DaRWin CAD files to AX12. I've experimented on a couple of brackets using Autodesk Inventor.
