Although Bluetooth 2 can operate up to 3 Mb/sec if you were to loopback one character it would take about 80ms. Zigbee operates only up to 115kb baud but loopback time should be less then 1ms. The complex protocol stack of Bluetooth and USB cause the turn around time to be so slow. If you intend on doing realtime control on your PC then this may be important. The USB delay is likely the reason the PC interface for Zigbee is RS-232. So if you really need realtime control don't use a USB to serial converter to get realtime. I personally have found Bluetooth to work excellent but I keep realtime code on the my bots.

True, that makes sense for a laptop or PDA or phone. Putting your robot's logic on a phone would be pretty rad. Do phones have a serial bluetooth stack?

It's a cool project, but why not just use Zigbee like these (surveyor.com) do?

Just curious if anyone knows the status of either the gyro or zigbee modules?

It seems like Robotis has mentioned them from time to time, but do they exist or has anyone heard when they will?
