The barriers to walking are not just physical. To develop gaits for a new robot is a long demanding task. Especially when using servos like these where the current position cannot be read.

It is an interesting mirror to previous thread on scaling up robots and whether the servo torque to size ratio is linear.

I hope someone gets this working

Well doing a 1-legged stand could mean he got it to walk. On the movie you can see the batteries are sitting on the table in the back, But I think he could manage a 7.4v 900mah lipo battery

A 17dof humanoid, regardless of how light you get the chassis, will not be able to support itself + controller + battery using those servos. Not trying to be a downer, just don't want you to waste $300.

There is no free lunch with humanoids.

They'll do custom-cut pieces to order, suited me fine.

What sort of servos are you going to use? This may steer you one way or the other when it comes to control boards etc.

If you're going to use 'standard'-control servos (i.e. RC pulse) then I'll have just the devices soon... 8)
