AI-Bot, take a look at the discontinued SONY
camera HDR-HC1. It has 1/3 CCD and 3000K
pixels. Used ones should be inexpensive.

Here is the downfall of the face recognize.
1) it can only see in front of face..... it does NOT recognize size or back of your head.
2) People wearing glasses... you have to take it off to work, due to reflection, I haven:t figure out how to counteract with reflection yet.

Thanks AI-Bot for the information. As to the above, even I can cannot recognize people from the side or back of their head. I have to wait until the front of the face becomes visible. I presume a humanoid would need to do the same.

About the reflection problem with people wearing glasses - try using a polaroid filter in front of the CCD lens, and rotate it to give best results, to cut down reflections. Polarized sunglasses should do the trick.

Currently, the Robot runs Alpha DEC Computer..... which is similar to unix.
However, most people don:t have access to unix and it cost a lot to maintain it. I am currently converting all my code to work with window OS.
Just need to make sure all the engine work properly with window OS.

I will release the software once I convert to PC window.

Here is how it work.
1) Run of Cyrix board which has firewire.
2) I use firewire and chain them. I found USB is not good enough.
(have to program the driver to work with firewire equipment.)
3) Video WebCam would be nice and cheaper, but I find them NOT capturing the details well.
4) I use lense with good CCD took it, and input into the cyrix board. I find that with the current lense, It is 10x better than the best webcam. You can see more details. I was thinking of doing Eye iris recognize, but that would be too much for me to do alone.

The lense I use it cost about 100000yen few years ago..... but I think the price drop to 50000yen now...($500)

As for your question. I don:t have RN robot...so I don:t know the spec of it.
But for their board.... do they have a optional board or plug that you buy and plug into the RN micro board to give you firewire output. IF yes, then I can program to work with RN as external software. (I only know how to program firewire driver, I was never good programing USB driver).

But the lastest robot I build is based on khr-2 designed.

These are remarkable humanoids with
very good size. I like the idea of having
the ability to recognize faces. Which system
does it use? I'd like to put something like that
on RN. Can you give us a guide as to how
we can do this?

Hi...

I build robots as a hobby, mostly from home.
There are still a lot of bugs for the current software and robot.
But the lastest robot I build is based on khr-2 designed.
Height is about 0.8meter

Currently, I am re-designing the body to make it stronger and lighter.
And hoping to reduce the robot from 12A to 8A, but it is very hard to
reduced the Amp, since I have to many junks inside the robot.
Might have to take out some of the sensors.

Anyway, hoping to have a small productions by the end of the summer/fall.

I'm also building some humanoid robots but haven't released any information yet. Mainly I've posted to the forum about my Robonova kit. There are numerous people who built humanoids. For looking at numerous projects, check out the links in the Robosavvy forum and do a google search on humanoid robot.

I am building my own bot from scratch (it'll be my second one). I took a detour for the last month to build myself a new mill pieced together from stuff bought on ebay, but in a couple weeks it will be functional so I'll actually start making parts for Bing 3.

I've seen YDNA (which is very nice, BTW!), but other than that, is anyone here actually building a Robo-one bot without starting from a kit?

(I'm just looking for inspiration and expertise...)
