Sigh...

I understand. It's the limitations we hobbyists must endure, with limited resources, time and money. In fact, with all my homebuilts, only one survived intact, and of course the new one just built has all its parts. Over time, I've frequently disassembled one creation to make a greater one. I might feel bad about it, except for the fact that each new creation is more fantastic than the last. However it would be nice to have a museum keep-place behind glass.

Joe, maybe someone can help troubleshoot it for you. These humanoids are the culmination of complexity requiring lots of supportive time and energy. Please don't give it up! You've pioneered a lot of brilliant engineering. Keep it going, please.

I started on a version with arms (for 8 DOF total), inspired by a bot I saw at the Wonderful Robot Carnival over at robots-dreams. You can see it here.

But, alas, I couldn't make this robot stand up from a prone or supine position, which was my primary goal for that design. In addition, the whole thing was a bit flaky; it stopped working one day (i.e. wouldn't respond to serial commands at all), and I'd had enough. I put it down and never picked it up again.

Since then, I've decided (alas) that humanoid robotics are too hard for me, given my time and skill constraints. I'm working on a wheeled robot for the Trinity fire fighting challenge instead.

Sorry he has been scavanged and reused on other projects. He was built to experiment with hip rotoation prior to my Biolid arriving and had served his purpose, sorry

Joe, very nice robot! Have you done any more work on it, software updates, hardware and sensor add-ons, or are you working on newer models?

Pev, I would be interesting in seeing your robot - do you have any thread with postings and photos, or a web site?

Thanks, I'll certainly keep you posted. I'm not sure what's next in this line... I may be getting some more servos and brackets from my wife for Christmas, which would probably mean an upgrade to 6 DOF. I'm also interested in adding wireless control, probably with Zigbee or something similar.

Thanks for the feedback — it's great to have a community that understands the joys and pains of robot-building!

Cool, I built a 6 servo one some time ago woth an SSC32 and a BasicX. Never really finished it but did get it to walk, but not as nicely as yours.

What's next? more DOFs? hope we see more as your homebuild develops.
