1UpCheatachu wrote:
The RB-300 isn't out yet; however, you can get an extremely similar robot from VStone. It's called the Robovie-I. Actually the whole RB series comes from VStone. As of last night the JR website didn't show anything about the RB-300 or RB-2000 series, but all the information's available on the VStone site.

Here's a photo of the Robovie-I I took this afternoon at the Sanwa booth at the show:

Sanwa provides the RC remotes for the VStone robots.

It's just my personal feeling, but the VStone versions have better styling. The plastic body cover and metail finish/colors on the frame parts looks much better to me on the VStone robots, even though the mechanical design is the same. Perhaps it's the JR Robotics blue that turns me off a bit.

The robot's a lot thicker than I expected from the online photos, and the way that it tilts it's front plate to the side when it tries to kick seems really odd.

The JR folks mentioned that an upgrade kit is in the works to convert the RB-300 to the RB-2000 configuration.
Statistics: Posted by tempusmaster — Sat Oct 21, 2006 10:53 am

You are correct about the RB2000, hivemind. 4DOF less in the legs, and 2DOF less in the arms. BUT there are 2 others! the RB2500 and the RB2800! The RB2500 has the same flexibility as the RB1000, and the RB2800 is the same as the RB2500 but it also has arm rotation (YAW) and double servo knees. All of them have speakers, and can make good sound fx and talk as well.

Videos and Pics:
http://www.vstone.co.jp/top/products/ro ... llery.html

Very nice. The RB2500 is an upgrade from the RB2000, and the RB2800 is an upgrade from the RB2500.

EDIT: I like the walking sfx... Boom! So these are cheaper versions of the RB1000. The RB2000 apears to have two DOF missing in the legs, as well as in the arms, so 4 servos lighter, maybe six? And the RB300 looks more like a playtoy, which isnt altogether bad... they must be trying to accomadate for another basis here.

Interesting... I like Vstone stuff, the brackets are great, but this is certainly a step in a different direction... The RB300 sure is cute isnt it.

Hopefully this means we will see some more designs out of Vstone in the future too. cool
Statistics: Posted by hivemind — Tue Oct 17, 2006 8:23 pm
