Hi,
I am collaborating in the development of a GPL'ed 3D robot simulator. It is pretty mature but still has much to progress.
More info on http://playerstage.sourceforge.net/wiki/Gazebo

The things we need more are models. We have very basic world files as examples but as you can see in the screenshots some users have developed really complex worlds (just see the video of the robot in the (removed by spam filter))

If you take a look to http://playerstage.sourceforge.net/wiki/Gazebo_roadmap you can take a rough idea of the current status and TODO for the 0.8 release.

Some highlights:
- world files in XML
- Model meshes can be exported from 3dsmax, maya, Blender, etc.
- Controllers steering_position2d, differential_positio2d ,etc. So you just program "move forward at X speed" and don't care about robot architecture
- Physics based on ODE (we will integrate other physic engines soon)
- Lot of things I forget

I hope you will find it interesting
Any help (code, models, comments) welcome
Statistics: Posted by jordi — Sat Feb 23, 2008 2:42 pm
