For Scicos try this:
http://www.scicos.org/TUTORIAL/tutorial.html

Also for the robotics toolbox this is good for translating between the Scicos and Simulink toolboxes:
http://rtss.sourceforge.net/docs/rtss-scicos.pdf

This is interesting, though detail is in Spanish:
http://loslocosrh-ev.blogspot.com/
Also checkout the Matlab Robotics toolbox information, since the Scilab/Scidos is closely based on this.
Statistics: Posted by i-Bot — Mon May 05, 2008 7:39 am

You might take a look at Scilab/Scicos before you buy Matlab. This has a robotics toolbox too.

It is while since I used Matlab, but often I was not able to do things I wanted with the student edition, mainly because I needed items from toolboxes which were not included.
Statistics: Posted by i-Bot — Sun May 04, 2008 10:48 am

Does any one know if if there is a similar book to this available in english or if it is worth translating?
MATLAB / Simulink model-based design and a two-legged robot simulation (ROBOT books) (book (paperback))
三田 宇洋 (著), 高島 博 (著), 宅島 章夫 (著), 田中 明美 (著) Mita宇洋 (Author), Hiroshi Takashima (Author), Akio Takushima (Author), Akemi Tanaka (Author)

Also is the student version of Matlab sufficient?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MATLAB-Simulink-Student-Version-Release/dp/0979223903/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1209885625&sr=8-1
Statistics: Posted by NovaOne — Sun May 04, 2008 8:22 am
