I need help ...dumb question

I have a really noob question... I want to build a bipedal robot and have been looking at a lot of the kits out there. and would like to get either the kondo with the hip rotation or the lynxmotion scout. what I was wondering tho is what (if any) is the diffrence between a servo controller and a microcontroller... right now I am thinking that a servo controler is like your reflexes, it makes stuff move but dosent think. and a microcontroller is the brain that holds all your code.. how far off am I ?

do I need both to make some thing function un-teaterd? my final goal at this point is to build the lil dude and be able to controle it from some other sorce like a pc, laptop, cell phone bluetooth, some form of IR or even standard radio gear. does any one have experiance with the ssc-32 servo controller or the BASIC atom boards? also they mention a WIport on the lynxmotion site alot any idea where that thing comes from? I love the antena ^,^

thanks guys and sry about the book

I am thinking that a servo controler is like your reflexes, it makes stuff move but dosent think. and a microcontroller is the brain that holds all your code.. how far off am I ?

That is essentually a good analogy.
The lynxmotion site has lots of forum threads discussing this subject.
Personally, I like lynxmotion's stuff. If you are new to robotics a "pre-made" kit is a good start. Either will give you hours/days/months of fun. I have a new Robonova and am working out some bugs, possibly from construction errors on my part. But so far I'm having a great time just playing and learning the nuances of this bot.
The biggest thing to remember is be patient and don't be afraid to move outside the comfort zone! Hope this helps!

Tell me again. What happens when these 2 wires touch?

yeah I work at a hobby shop and fly r/c heli's so I am not worried about the electronics part of it. or the common parts between robotics and basic hobby ( like gyro's ^,^) and I get a discount on all my servo's so I think I am in a pretty good sted. ... I have done some more looking... is there a kondo-khr that comes with hip rotation or was I looking at a bioloid? O,o? there is even a special going on this month on the robonova I mean no disrespect to the robonova lovers but he seems a bit clunky

yeah the torso is cool on that one but hip rotation is a big selling point for me and the $ is a bit much for me. I fly a raptor .60 mx 400 and a blade cp also looking at a hornet x3d for my next one I dont like the tail on the cp........I am retracting my earlyer "clunky" statement about the rn-1 I am thinking about it but I was wondering how hard would it be to add blue tooth or Wi-Fi control. thinken about it cuz if I order one this month I can get it for sub 800$

hi mate,
if the robonova is the flavour of the day then this website should help:

http://www.bauerindependents.com/

it is run by one of our foum members matt bauer who is one of the leaders in advancing the robonovas capabilities - he invented the rn1 grippers.

hope this helps matey!
