SCAM ALERT: Beware of chocobot!

Dear Robosavvy Community:

My name is Alex Ward. I work for Trossen Robotics.

Recently, Kenneth Meyers, aka chocobot in your forums, has placed fraudulent purchases with us.

The purpose of my email is to inform all of you of his fraudulent activity. We have gathered information about him, and found that he is following the same path in your forums as he had in the R/C Community dating all the way back to 2005 (as far back as we’ve found). Unfortunatley we did not catch him before he received some of our products.

A Google search using any of the following information will more than adequately explain what I am referring to:

His email:
mobilewagon@yahoo.com

Kenneth Meyers
5428 Palmer St.
Houston, TX 77004
United States

or

Kenneth Meyers
5218 Amy St.
Houston, TX 77028
United States

Do not make any arrangements for payments to him, and please for the sake of the entire robotics community keep your eyes peeled on all other robotics forums for suspicious sales, and inform anyone you know that participate in other forums of his activity.

He is well known for taking money and never sending out the products that he promises. First, he finds shops to gather an inventory (unfortunately us this time), and then attacks the community with sales of products intended for fraudulent activity. He is well known to use various usernames in an attempt to delude his audience into thinking that he is legit.

I hope that we have caught this guy on your forums before the damage has reached beyond what he has made to our company.

Please contact me directly (my email is on Trossen Robotics contact page) if you have anything you would like to share or ask.

Sincerely,

Alex Ward
Trossen Robotics

Many Many thanks for letting us know, I got sucked into some PM converstaions with him.

I had my suspicions and let Limor know, but we try to help everyone here even if they are acting "strangely" on the forums.

Not a problem! You guys have educated us on so many levels with the robots we sell:) We certainly didn't want to see any of you get scammed by him.

If he follows the same path as he has with all of his other scams that we've found in all of the RC forums, chances are that he will resurface every few months, with a new username, generate some posts to build trust with the fellow community members, and then try to fraudulently sell some more robots.

I became suspicious of him when he appeared on every forum saying that he is getting a new Robot RN1-Bioloid-Bioloid starter, and within a couple of days he is trying to flog them saying that they are extras as if he bought too many!!

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Alex,
Why are you going under the name of "sweeps", not the name you used a while back? I think it was "alex[tr]". I'm kind of suspicious of you now. Please reply and prove you are not some body else. Limor if you read this PM me with "sweeps" IP, thanks. (I know Alex's IP so I'll check it out)

wow man, chill with the accusations haha! You could've just PM'd or emailed me. You know my email address.

Besides, sweeps is the name I've gone by on almost every forum I've ever been on. It's my nick for about 12 years now. Look around on MySpace, and you'll see it there too.

I didn't think I had any accounts on RoboSavvy... Are you sure you're not talking about Dave? Dave just told me he has an account here that somethign like dave[tr].

No worries Scotty:) You're exactly right. There's no such thing as being too careful.

He is still using
mobilewagon@yahoo.com
our the BotConnect.com site.

Thanks for the headsup.

Now, back to that suspicious Alex... Scotty, you could be right... Just because he scammed Matt's IP address, can we really trust him? I think we should demand DNA!
