Humanoid Stealth Challenge

** Please voice your suggestions, ideas etc. I dont have a robot yet but I thought this would be a cool idea **

Challenge Type: Program and Drive / Manual Drive

Entries: humanoid

Objective: Traverse an obstacle course without triggering alarms

Environment: physical obstacles of various sizes and shapes. All obstacles will be perfectly geometric using cuboids and cylinders. The environment is a 2x4 foot bound area. Obstacles are placed within this area with trip-wires in between. Robots can navigate over the wire -or- challenge the obstacles. Aim is to get from one end to the other without triggering the alarm.

To make it more fun - we can standardize the location of the obstacles, the height from the floor off which the trip wire is tethered, the surface type etc. Everyone should be able to build their own environment at home with stuff from Walmart or any supermarket. Obstacles will most probably be straight out of commonly available kiddie toy packages.

We can also standardize the starting position and ending position so that code can be shared.

Once we have the quickest code to get across - we can try to add sensors, try to match the time in both manual and auto modes...

Anyone interested? I have time to kill and im gonna head to walmart to check out some toys later this evening :)

That's an excellent concept. It takes the 'figure-8 course' a step further. I'd love to help, but finding available time is not always easy for me. I'd love to see how this progresses though!

I'll head to walmart and see if I can find something that can be picked up in-store or ordered online that doesnt cost more than $15 - $20. Most likely cubes, cones, cylinders and that kind of stuff.

String for the trip-lines will also be Walmart spec :)

BTW - has anyone tried doing a "pull-up" with their humanoid? Just stack a few books a little higher than waist high (for the robot that is..:) ). Try to make your bot "vault" onto the raised platform.

If the Robonova or KHR-1 can do this then we are in business!!

Matt - depending on you for this one ;)

My personal Robonova is still in the "I am pulling out the credit card" phase :) LOL

I was working on making my robonova pull itself up onto a regular step (stairs) before my old laptop dumpped it's drive(never finished it). I lost that and the robosapien flip codes. You know how it is when you work on something hard, and it "poof" goes away like that. It's hard to start over and retrace the steps you already took (no pun intended... english  ) This might just be the thing to motovate me into staring it back up.. and this time finish it.

Robonova-1 on the way

Walmart trip was pretty fruitful :)

Pics coming up this weekend of the stuff I bought. I'll try to put the "course" together this weekend but I am getting killed at work so no promises.
