Price should not really be a parameter in your selection.
If you will like playing and learning with the robot, you will spend a lot of time with it.
Most of the models cost quite a bit and the time you will spend with the robot costs quite a lot. Therefore your choice should revolve around how you would like to spend that time.
Robonova - comprehensive basic interpreter, metal frames that can be hacked,
many mods
Bioloid - graphic programming and embedded C, robotic servos, 15 different robot models,
favored by university researchers
KHR - most aesthetic movements, visual programming only
