Hi everyone,

I have problem understanding current. Therefore, I am going to ask few questions and I hope you can understand my weakness and point me to the right direction.

How to calculate needed current (amp) for my project ?

I understand that the more current (amp), the better. But why some motor have a max current rating? What would happen if i go over the max?

Current are necessary to drive motor to generate electro-motive force to push the motor wires to rotate. If the current is so high that exceed the wire's max. rating then the wire will burn out (sometime, even the magnet) and the motor burn.


Max. rating can be found in the servo specification if they given.
To measure the current, you need to have basic electronic theory and measuring technique. I cannot simply explain. This can be found in electronic textbook.
