new chat system for Robosavvy

Hi all
During BETT, when we met iBot, one subject that was discussed was upgrading the Robosavvy chat component.
I am opening this thread to get your feedback and sugestions on features and products we might use here.
We are running Joomla 1.xx (not 1.5... the version before that) and phpBB 2.
Ideally what I would like was to add the ability to just click on a name on "Who's Online" and be able to start chatting just like you do on gmail.
Also a cool feature was to create a public chat room, and have the public chat session recorded for future reference on a forum thread.
It's kind of frustrating to know someone we want to talk to is online but have no way to talk to him!!!
What is your opinion?
