Wondering if anyone has any information on a robot i found online, the robot is called, as the title of this thread suggests, omnizero.2. The video can be found here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5O6ik1Jr6E

As far as i can tell this robot appears to be far more advanced than the kits we are currently able to buy yet is over 3 years old. Its creator i believe works for Vstone, a japanese company which produces a similar robot called robovie-x which is available in japan.

What i'm wondering is are robots like this only available in japan?

The Omnizero series of humanoids were designed by Maeda-san. As you indicated, he works for Vstone, and is also one of the key members of the Team Osaka RoboCup champion team. He redesigns Omnizero for each ROBO-ONE competition, which basically means a new design every six months.

You can find more on Omnizero here.

While most of the ROBO-ONE builders started off with a humaniod kit, they quickly hack and improve them. None of the top level humanoids are for sale, including Omnizero. What you can do is to buy a kit, like the kT-X, or a KHR-1HV or 2HV, then start replacing parts of it to improve the overall performance.

Thanks for the responses guys. I am looking at getting myself a kit. What im interested in is what gives the omni series the unique ability to "run"? Is it the programming or the hardware that gives it this ability? Also which is the best kit for upgradeability, im leaning towards the khr-1hv atm.

hi

from what I understand the most important for running is weight distribution - which is quite hard to manage on a humanoid.

You can only run sucessfully when you have the center of mass/weight distribution in a correct manner.
