3D Digitizing with Kondo Servos

Because of its handy 'teaching mode', I believe it would be possible to make an inexpensive 3D digitizer using 6 Kondo ICS servos and some mechanical parts, emulating the way 3D arm digitizers work. Kondo servos have no high accuracy but I think it would be enough to experiment with the concept.

The idea is that if you can place a 6 DOF tip on space you can get back the 3D coordinates where the tip is placed. This concep has being used by companies like Axila and Faro for years.

Is not the wish of anyone involved in 3D desig to have an inexpensive 3D digitizer ?

That's a really nice idea. The resolution would be low though.
but probably enough for rudimentary shapes.
But how do you translate the gait into something a 3d program will understand?
I use digitising a lot. My mill software provides this with a resulution of 1/800 mm.
