A note to every one.

Could some one bring along a bit of flat wood cut to the same size as the robo-one table. MDF would be good as it would be flat. This would give a good surface for the comp.

I will try and find the size.

Just an update.

I'm currently talking to the bristol robot lab about them sponsoring the event. So hopefully there will be some cool prizes.

See you there bren

I am certainly up for coming along.

Should have the KHR-1HV working by then. Not sure what Robo-one is all about yet but I am happy to give it a bash as long as it all just a bit of fun and no one gets too serious !

What is the size of the venue and how many are expected to take part and watch?

It will be just for fun.

I'm in the process of getting more info about the venue and a rough idea of how many people will be there.

The main aim of the comp is to get people together and there bots to share ideas and general have a bit of fun as well as check out what mods other people have tried.

I'll be there definitely

I live in walsall, about ten miles from the think tank. Used to work right next to it in Saltley. Know the area quite well. Used to attend Aston Uni..

If you need anything doing as I'm up here, drop me a line and if I can help i will.....

Hi PaulP

Thanks for the offer, I've got most things in order but one thing that could be good if you live near would be to bring some sort of arena. This could be as simple as a sheet of MDF. The idea I had in mind was two bits of wood (Would fit in car easier) and some g clamps and use two tables as the base.

Let me know some dimensions, I've never seen any of the arena stuff, and I'll see what I can come up with.

I've got some Office desks, 800mm x 1400mm which have detachable, adjustable legs (get them nice and level for the 'bots).

Or we might have some exhibition stuff at work that would be of use.

Depends how high you want them. Got some IKEA coffee tables somewhere, Nice thick tops, sturdy, think theres 2 of them. Side by side should do the trick..

Hi PaulP

1.5 - 2 m2 should do the job fine as long as it's flat is the main thing. there should be tables there to use I just thought it would be nice to have a nice surface to put on the top.

I just got a e-mail back from micro mouse about the venue and how many people they expect through the door

UK Micromouse is expected to draw in a minimum of 20-30 competitors this year, though the international response is a bit of an unknown until close to the competition. Also the Schools response is likely to be 6-8 schools, but could be more. Total numbers through the doors last year was about 100, though we had the sad misfortune to have it on the same day as the world cup started, and England were playing! The previous year we had about 120 including spectators. With the schools involved this year we could easily be looking at 200 through the doors.

I will see what I can come up with, If the worst comes to the worst I can lash 2 pieces of MDF to the roof-rack of my car. Do that regular.... and some form of clamps etc to level the 2 pieces and fasten over a table...

No problem

The guys here always bring along a box of small wooden shims like you see at the DIY store. Tables and floors never match like we think they should.

Sounds like a plan

Do we as yet have any idea who will be attending and which bot's they will be bringing?
