Hi all I am new to the forum and hope you all could help me I am building a 3 "leg" robot that I plan to use tank treads on each of the legs.
However I am looking for a small high torque engine for each of the legs form factor is important I would like the entire tread and motor assembly to be about the size of a size 12(US) shoe and be able to pull 100 - 200 lbs each
top speed is not important 2 - 4 mph would be more than enough. anyone have any suggestions?

sounds like a very fast tank treads . quick calculation (please correct) you are running at about 6 times the length of the foot per second. thats about 2000rpm. you can get some serious power brushless outrunner motors and compatible pwm driven controllers in RC hobby stores. but they don't come with gear reduction. the easiest way to reduce the speed of the motor and increase the torque is using timing-belts and pullies. alternatively you can get some DC motors with gear reduction. I recently built a segway type platform and used electric scooter DC motors in conjunction with the wild-thumper controller.
