Thanks for all that. I ordered an IrDroid and will test it out. My next task is to find out how to record the .wav files. I need ten sets of commands for ten different channels. Then need to see how arduino decode different protocols.

Ya I can decode ir from arduino. Now I need to generate sound wave files for the iPhone. To do this either I use ledrem or use a python program. I am learning python now. I am thinking of using Sony ir protocol and assign different channels by using the address in the protocol.
