I agree with this. There are a number of complex disciplines involved, and new users can't tackle them all at once. It seems relatively simple from the outside looking in, but there is certainly more to it than what one sees from any video.
Users need to be able to experiment in whatever direction they desire without running into restrictions that can be caused by design of the system.
Another issue is constraints - CPU performance, for example. If in default configuration a 'bot operates on the edge of what it can do out of the box, there will be little room for growth by the end user.
As it always is, what makes a 'bot tick is software.
